This project involves the Detail Design for the four-laning of Highway 69 from 5.3 km south ofHighway 529 (north Junction) northerly to 2.2 km north of Highway 529 (north Junction) for a total distance of approximately 7.5 km including Magnetawan First Nation lands.

This project is being undertaken as part of the Ministry of Transportation’s plans to four-lane Highway 69 between Parry Sound and Sudbury.  A preferred alignment for this section of Highway 69 was identified and documented in a Route Planning and Environmental Assessment Report dated February 2008.

This project includes:

· four-laning of Highway 69 on twinning and new alignment sections;
· construction of a new interchange at Highway 529 North Junction;
· realignment of Spirit Road;
· and new structures over the Magnetawan River

The project will follow the approved environmental planning process for Group “B” projects under the Class Environmental Assessment for Provincial Transportation Facilities (2000) with the opportunity for public input throughout.
