Environmental Assessment Process
The Detail Design for Highway 69 four-laning will follow the planning process for a Group “B” project as outlined in the Class Environmental Assessment for Provincial Transportation Facilities (MTO, 2000).
In 2004, a Route Planning Study and Environmental
Assessment Report was completed which identified the recommended
alignment for this section of Highway 69. This report documented
the planning process and outlined additional work that must be completed
during the Detail Design to finalize the preferred design and develop
mitigation measures and was approved in May 2006.
It is currently anticipated that the construction
for this project will be implemented in four (4) phases. Each phase
may include a main highway construction contract and a separate
tree clearing contract.
Public input is encouraged throughout Detail Design.
Input will be facilitated through a series of Public Information
Centres (PICs) that will provide an opportunity for members of the
public to see design refinements, exchange information and ask questions
of the Project Team. Notices for each PIC will be posted on the
Upcoming Events page, published in local newspapers and sent
to persons on the project mailing list. If you wish to be added
to our mailing list or submit comments or questions, please go to
the Contact Us section of this website.
Nearing the completion of each of the main contracts, a Design and Construction Report (DCR) will be prepared and made available for a 30-day public review. Notices for the review period will posted on this webpage, published in local newspapers and sent to individuals on our project mailing list.
